Big used oak barrels

The Orange de Noirs from Costador is technically a rosé even though the color recalls of an orange wine. Here’s why: the major part Sumoll Negre (red grape variety) was pressed directly whilst Xarel.lo Vermell (which is an hybrid of white Xarel.lo and it has a grey color like Pinot Gris) was 7 weeks on its skins. The result is a complex wine with a beautiful minerality, some acidity and a touch of tannins. Orange zest, hint of peach and rosemary and an outstanding smokiness.

Old vines and high altitude!

The winery is run by Joan Franquet, a natural wine artisan who makes the impossible happen. Indigenious rare grape varieties, almost extinct, make this winery special. The high altitude and the rich terroir allow the wine to express its best form – complexityminerality and character.
